The Ukrainian Armed Forces got a new Commander-in-Chief. His name is Alexander Syrsky. Before this appointment, he served as a Commander of the Land Forces. The previous chief commander of the AFU four-star General Valeriy Zaluzhny was awarded the highest title of Hero of Ukraine.
On February 13, the newest stealth Ukrainian sea surface drones sank the Russian large landing ship Caesar Kunikov (Project 775) in the Black Sea near occupied Crimea.
On February 7, at least 4 civilians were killed and 38 were injured as a result of the Russian missile attack on Ukraine's capital city of Kyiv. During this attack, Russia used the latest hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile 3М22 Zircon for the first time. The debris of this missile was recovered in the impact area. The British intelligence assumes that it was launched from Crimea.
Seven Ukrainian civilians, including children, were burned alive in Kharkiv City on February 10th as a result of the Russian drone strike that destroyed a fuel reservoir. The burning fuel splashed out on the residential street.
