Recently, the US State Department has issued a formal diplomatic protest to the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington following a drone strike on Russia’s Black Sea oil terminal in Novorossiysk, Russia, that harmed US economic interests. Ukrainian Ambassador Olha Stefanishyna confirmed the US protest note in a February 24 briefing, stating that the State Department warned Kyiv to “refrain from attacking American interests.” This was another major rebuke of the Zelensky government, after the scandal involving President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House a year ago.

Why can’t Kyiv avoid harming Americans or other third parties? Apparently, as the war turned into its 5th year, the government of Zelensky stopped caring about collateral damage because others don’t suffer as much as Ukraine does.
